Kiekover, Scholma & Shumaker, PC was established in 1965 in Zeeland, Michigan. For over 40 years, our firm has served West Michigan, helping companies grow and profit, governmental entities strive in an ever-changing financial arena, nonprofit organizations effectively pursue their missions, and individuals meet their personal tax planning goals and compliance needs.

History

1965 – The firm is formed, primarily serving closely-held and family owned businesses, individuals, and non-profit organizations.

1977 – Cal Scholma and Rich Shumaker are named partners, and the firm is incorporated as a professional corporation.

1985 – The firm is reorganized with three partners: Harris Kiekover, Cal Scholma, and Rich Shumaker.

1990 – KSS moves to its new location at 205 East Main Street.

1993 – The firm announces the naming of two new partners, Mike Brandsen and Ken Scholma.

1995 – KSS celebrates the firm’s 30th anniversary.

1996 – Harris Kiekover retires from partner at KSS.

1997 – KSS announces the naming of Emil Sabolish as partner.

2003 – The firm announces the promotion of Dave Nienhuis to partner.

2003 – Rich Shumaker retires after 33 years with the firm, 26 years as partner.

2005 – Kiekover, Scholma & Shumaker, PC turns 40.

2007 – Cal Scholma retires from partner after 38 years with KSS and 30 years as partner, remaining with the firm on a part-time basis.

2008 – KSS announces the naming of two new partners, Joe Kuiper and Tim Stob.
